ABOUT SCIENCE OLYMPIAD
Learn about science in a hands-on environment! Students in grades 2-5 can participate in Science Olympiad. There are about 40 events that cover various scientific concepts and skill sets, so most children can find several events they enjoy. Coaches are recruited late in the fall–parents and high school students welcome. Science Olympiad is run by volunteers and we need your help!
Go to the Washtenaw Elementary Science Olympiad (WESO) website to learn more about Science Olympiad history and additional details.

NEW IN 2016–Approximately 130 children were able to participate in the tournament!!! We typically have 130-140 children practicing for Science Olympiad, so the majority of our students will be able to attend the tournament. Since WESO rules limit the number of participants in each event, children may not be selected to compete in their favorite event. There is a Point System to determine which kids will be on the King tournament team. Please read the TEAM SELECTION CRITERIA to understand the point system. All children will be able to attend King Elementary’s Science Night (held in conjuction with Silent Auction).
